Technical Team Leadership

This book already has a detailed outline that I am continuing to edit in order to the book short and focused. Essentially, this book is documenting the techniques I have developed after being a technical lead for the last 10 years, across several companies, many projects, and working with a wide range of personalities.

Currently the book is divided into the following sections:

  • Team Composition
  • Team Leadership
  • Team Motivation
  • Team Principles
  • Team Culture
  • Team Work Ethic
  • Team Decision Making
  • Team Problem Solving
  • Team Strategy
  • Team Tactics
  • Team Communication
  • Team Adaptability
  • Team Resiliency

It is a very direct and assertive book, as it is meant to be a team handbook given to and followed by the team without a lot of debate. It can be thought of as documenting the rules I have for any team I am the lead of. Today, these rules are passed around by word of mouth, but now I’m at a point where I can document them in a cogent and consistent manner.

I would imagine I would publish this in 2016, depending on the feedback I get for Personality Patterns of Problematic Projects. If people like that book, I’ll be motivated to write this one.
